Every real estate agent in Texas works under a broker. The broker holds the licence the agent operates on, is responsible for the trust account the earnest money sits in, and is accountable to the Texas Real Estate Commission for how the transaction is handled.
For most of a normal sale you will never think about this. It starts to matter when something goes sideways — a disclosure that should have been made and was not, a deadline missed, money that needs to move and has not. At that point the question of who is actually responsible stops being paperwork.
Ask who the broker is and whether your agent can reach them the same day. On a small team that answer is usually yes, and it is one of the few structural advantages a small team genuinely has.
